Perempuan Pekerja Rumahan - Yayasan Annisa Swasti (YASANTI)

Perempuan Pekerja Rumahan

Yasanti began working with home-based women workers in 1992 and now works with some xxx workers. They are involved in jobs such as: making shoes, rolling cigarettes, sewing clothes, embroidery, and jewellery work.

As the workers are isolated it makes organising difficult and Yasanti has sought to address this through concerted networking in local communities. This has enabled the workers to tackle issues such as pay (workers are paid on a per unit basis rather than hourly) a nd the lack of benefits such as holiday pay.
